Who we are?

Our story

We are REACT Foundation a team of Polish volunteers established as a result of the joint activities of the Fandom Support Group (also known as the „Squirrel Team”) and the SASA Foundation.

The „Squirrel Team” group was created on Facebook in September 2017 to raise money for the treatment of cancer diagnosed in our friend Anna „Wiewióra” („Squirrel”) Babilon. We achieved our financial goal, but due to the awareness of how much good we can still do, we decided to continue our activities and try to help other people around us. Expensive treatment, surgery, or rehabilitation – when someone in our community needed financial support, we organized fundraising activities and auctions.

Establishment of the REACT Foundation

We operated in this mode until the memorable date: February 24, 2022, when Putin’s Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Already on the first day of the invasion, we came to the conclusion that we have to go beyond our current activities so far focused on helping individuals, and engage in much bigger work: helping the entire country!

So far, as a part of The Squirrel Team, we have carried out four campaigns for Ukraine, supporting large charitable entities like the PAH, PCPM, PCK, Humanosh, and SASA Foundation, with aid worth nearly PLN 1 million.

The experience gained has shown that in the case of actions that go beyond our fandom and helping individuals, it is worth formalizing such activities. And this is how The Anna „Wiewióra” Babilon REACT Foundation was established and formally registered in January 2024.

What we do?

Fundraising for Ukraine

We organize targeted fundraising activities to raise money for drones, cars, medicines, and night-vision devices – equipment that will help Ukrainians win the war. Night-vision and thermal imaging devices enable them to identify incoming aggressors more effectively. Drones also provide the ability to remotely and safely observe and collect data on the activities of occupiers. Medical supplies such as dressings, tourniquets, and cannulas are crucial in saving the lives of wounded soldiers. These are the supplies that Ukrainian soldiers need the most, often asking Polish volunteers for them.

In our opinion, Ukrainians are defending not only their country but also, indirectly, Poland against Putin’s aggression. There is no doubt that if Kyiv had fallen at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian troops would have been stationed already on the border of our country. The support of Ukrainians fighting for their lands lost in this terrible war caused by Russian aggressors is therefore crucial for the security of Poland and the European Union.

How do we know what is most needed?

How do we know what is most needed? Since the spring of 2023, we have traveled to the Ukrainian Donbas several times, providing the military units with medical supplies, cars, and thermal imaging equipment. We know these people, their combat units and commanders. During our stay in Ukraine, we always discuss the current needs of specific branches. We intend to continue to support primarily those brigades whose soldiers fight on the front line, risking their lives constantly.
